My name is Elin Mathisen and I have been a member of DKG Norway, Zeta Chapter since 2002. I have been a member of the Chapter board, served as Chapter President for Zeta and most recently on the national board as secretary. I have had much pleasure from many interesting meetings at home and abroad.
I make jewelry, foremost for myself, but also for anyone else who likes what I make! I have made hundreds of pearl necklaces, bracelets, and earrings over the years. As my technique and knowledge improved, so did my creativity! The world of jewelry stones, beautiful Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls and beautifully patterned silver pearls have been an eyeopener for me. I was completely taken a back. It took some time to learn how to buy materials from abroad, but eventually I gained experience with agates, amethysts, onyx, turquoises, rose quartz, freshwater and crystal pearls, as well as countless small parts needed to create jewelry. My imagination and creativity were in full bloom. What initiated this? Life is full of wonders. Severe back pain overshadowed my everyday life, but I wanted to focus on something positive and thereby divert my brain's focus of pain. Was this possible? YES! I believed so! As we all know, body and soul are closely linked! I was able to captivate my attention to this art form to the extent that the experience of pain came into the background! Art creates endorphins, some claim. Colors and shapes in endless combinations provided my creative motivation, diverting thoughts of pain to the experience of joy. This was my happy choice! I recommend anyone to try a new activity, focusing away from bodily pain. Happy greetings from Elin Mathisen, Zeta chapter |
